MUHUHU – Reclaimed Parquet block

£36.00

Muhuhu reclaimed parquet block is a beautiful timber, a species of tropical hardwood from Africa. The colours are soft caramel, and golden brown, with occasional olive hues. Also known as Silver Oak typically used in houses from the 1960's onwards. Most particularly Muhuhu is smooth and cool to the touch making a first class floor. This wood also has an aromatic scent when sanded, this differentiates it from Afrormosia. You can read more about this species  on our wood types webpage.

Before buying your parquet we recommend that you request a sample so you know what to expect.

Condition

The Muhuhu blocks are tongue and groove and in good reclaimed condition. There is a layer of bitumen on the bases although this should not present a problem. The professional adhesives now available will adhere to the bitumen and stick successfully without the necessity for removal. You can buy our recommended adhesive – Sikabond 5500s on our website.

The blocks will require some preparation prior to laying, particularly along the edges. As a result this will give a tight fit and therefore a better finish. Also of course, after completion of the block laying the floor will need several good sanding passes.

Photos of Muhuhu:

The photos show our parquet blocks after sanding and polishing. This is not the condition of the blocks that are supplied, which will be in their reclaimed condition. The feature photo is of Muhuhu as supplied by us and laid by the customer’s fitter. The size may be different to the one advertised.
