BURMESE TEAK – Reclaimed Parquet

£40.00

Burmese Teak reclaimed parquet is a hard-wearing wood from South-East Asia. It's a classic mid range colour, with some beautiful varied grain. Sometimes it has a narrow band of creamy coloured sapwood with a golden brown heartwood and some visible dark streaks. The brown colour tone darkens with age, dependent on the place of origin. You can read more about this wood type on our website wood types page.

Before buying your parquet we recommend that you request a sample so you know what to expect.

Quantity

For sale in multiples of 1 sq m above the minimum purchase of 5 sq m – if you need a smaller quantity please contact the office directly.

Smaller amounts for repairs or infills:

If you just want to do an infill area, we will try to match the size and species for you before you buy so that you are sure of the wood type.

In order to use this service, we will ask for good photos in focus to be emailed with all three dimensions of the parquet block (L-W-D) and your full contact details please. In addition, you may need to send us an original block that we are matching. Please be ready to do this as it helps a lot with identification and we prefer to use our expertise than you guessing!

Condition

These Burmese Teak blocks have a tongue and grooved profile. They are generally in good reclaimed condition. There is a layer of bitumen on the bases although this should not present a problem for you. The professional adhesives available these days will adhere to the bitumen and stick successfully without the necessity for removal. You can buy our recommended adhesive – Sikabond 5500s on our website.

The blocks will require some preparation prior to laying, particularly along the edges. This will give a tight fit and therefore a better finish. The floor will need several good sanding passes after the completion of the block laying.

Photos of Burmese Teak:

The photos show our parquet blocks after sanding and polishing. This is not the condition of the blocks that are supplied, which will be in their reclaimed condition. The feature photo is of Teak as supplied by us and laid by one of our recommended professional fitters. The size may be different to the one advertised.
