JARRAH – Reclaimed Parquet

£36.00

Jarrah parquet is a timber of great strength consequently it is highly prized. It is a dense and relatively heavy block with excellent durability and hard wearing qualities. The colour is a dark red brown generally consistent with some small black marking in the grain. Jarrah is found in early 20th century buildings having been imported from Australia, known to be an excellent floor. You can learn more about this species here on our wood types web-page.

Before buying your parquet we recommend that you request a sample so you know what to expect.

Quantity

For sale in multiples of 1 sq m above the minimum purchase of 5 sq m – if you need a smaller quantity please contact the office directly.

Smaller amounts for repairs or infills:

If you just want to do an infill area, we will try to match the size and species for you before you buy so that you are sure of the wood type.

In order to use this service, we will ask for good photos in focus to be emailed with all three dimensions of the parquet block (L-W-D) and your full contact details please. In addition, you may need to send us an original block that we are matching. Please be ready to do this as it helps a lot with identification and we prefer to use our expertise than you guessing!

Condition

This is an acme fixing block. The parquet is in good, reclaimed condition but may have a dry glue on the surface which will sand off with a coarse grit paper. Before buying your parquet we recommend you request a sample so you know what to expect.

There is a thin layer of bitumen on the bases. The professional adhesives available these days will fuse with the bitumen and stick successfully without the necessity of removal. You can buy our recommended adhesive SikaBond 5500s on our website.

The blocks will require some preparation, prior to laying, particularly along the edges. This will give a tight fit and therefore a better finish. In addition of course the floor will need several good sanding passes after the completion of the block laying.
