IROKO Parquet – reclaimed block

£38.00

Iroko parquet is reclaimed here in the UK. It originally comes from many countries from West to East Africa and is sometimes known as Nigerian or African Teak. The colour is golden brown to brown, with interesting grain, eventually becoming darker over time. This particular batch is darker. Iroko parquet shares many of the physical qualities of Burmese teak and was used as its substitute - a very durable timber, with similar strength properties to Beech. You can learn more about this species on our wood types webpage.

Before buying your parquet we recommend that you request a sample so you know what to expect.

Quantity

For sale in multiples of 1 sq m above the minimum purchase of 5 sq m –  if you need a smaller quantity please contact the office directly.

Smaller amounts for repairs or infills:

If you just want to do an infill area, we will try to match the size and species for you before you buy so that you are sure of the wood type.

In order to use this service, we will ask for good photos in focus to be emailed with all three dimensions of the parquet block (L-W-D) and your full contact details please. In addition, you may need to send us an original block that we are matching. Please be ready to do this as it helps a lot with identification and we prefer to use our expertise than you guessing!

Condition

The parquet block is a tongue and groove profile, in good reclaimed condition. Before buying your parquet we recommend you request a sample so you know what to expect.

There is a layer of bitumen on the bottom although this should not present a problem. The professional adhesives available these days will fuse with the bitumen and stick successfully without the necessity of removal. You can buy our recommended adhesive SikaBond 5500s on our website.

The blocks will require some preparation, prior to laying, particularly along the edges. This will give a tight fit and therefore a better finish. In addition of course the floor will need several good sanding passes after the completion of the block laying.

Iroko photos:

The photos show our parquet blocks after sanding and polishing. This is not the condition of the blocks supplied, this is after the fitters have worked their magic. The feature photo is Iroko parquet is our supply but laid by professional fitters. The size may be different to the one advertised.
