PANGA PANGA – Reclaimed Parquet

£48.00

Panga Panga comes from East and South-East Africa. This species has great character, a dense wood, with excellent durability and really hard wearing qualities. The colour is dark chocolate with contrasting swirling grain marking it out as very distinctive. Panga Panga is found in mid 20th century buildings generally dating from the fifties and sixties. It was most particularly a feature in Brutalist architecture. You can read more about this species here on our wood types webpage.

Before buying your parquet we recommend that you request a sample so you know what to expect.

Quantity

For sale in multiples of 1 sq m above the minimum purchase of 5 sq m – if you need a smaller quantity please contact the office directly.

Smaller amounts for repairs or infills:

If you just want to do an infill area, we will try to match the size and species for you before you buy so that you are sure of the wood type.

In order to use this service, we will ask for good photos in focus to be emailed with all three dimensions of the parquet block (L-W-D) and your full contact details please. In addition, you may need to send us an original block that we are matching. Please be ready to do this as it helps a lot with identification and we prefer to use our expertise than you guessing!

Condition

This a tongue and groove block.

The parquet block is in good, reclaimed condition. Before buying your parquet we recommend you request a sample so you know what to expect.

There is a thin layer of bitumen on the bases. The professional adhesives available these days will fuse with the bitumen and stick successfully without the necessity of removal. You can buy our recommended adhesive SikaBond 5500s on our website.

The blocks will require some preparation, prior to laying, particularly along the edges. This will give a tight fit and therefore a better finish. The floor will need several good sanding passes after the completion of the block laying.

Photos of Panga Panga:

The photos show our parquet blocks after sanding and polishing. This is not the condition of the blocks supplied, which will come in their reclaimed condition. The feature photo is a picture of Panga Panga as supplied by us and laid by a recommended professional fitter. In addition the size may be different to the one advertised.
